University of Lisbon/Caixa Geral de Depósitos Scientific Awards The 2026 edition of the University of Lisbon/Caixa Geral de Depósitos (ULisboa/CGD) Scientific Awards recognised the work of 57 researchers from all scientific areas at the University of Lisbon. These awards aim to recognise scientific research activity and quality, encouraging publication in international journals of recognised quality. The ceremony took place on June 16, 2026, during the ULisboa Scientific Meeting 2026, at the Pavilhão de Portugal Congress Centre. The PI of project PLAnT, Catarina Frazão Santos, received an Honourable Mention for the third time. During the ULisboa Scientific Meeting 2026, the PI also presented a poster communication about the science-policy work being developed under project PLAnT: "Bridging science and policy—Contribution of ERC project PLANT to the Antarctic international governance agenda". This year's ULisboa Scientific Meeting was dedicated to the theme "Scientific Cooperation in a Changing World", reflecting on who partners with whom, how these collaborations take form, and what aims they intend to serve. The event explored partnerships among universities, the public sector, industry, and other strategic entities at national and international levels, and discussed the need for coherent internationalisation strategies and the positioning of ULisboa within the European Research Area. In this context, the PI highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the project team and the Delegation of Portugal to the Antarctic Treaty, which has already resulted in the discussion of the benefits of climate-smart ocean planning at the Antarctic Treaty meetings for the past three consecutive years (click the poster image for the PDF).
