SCAR Mini-Symposium SCAR Mini-Symposia are dedicated, interactive interdisciplinary events that highlight the timeliest and most cutting-edge topics proposed by the community. Developed as part of the 12th SCAR Open Science Conference, organised by the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) and hosted by the Norwegian Polar Institute in Oslo, Norway, this Mini-Symposium will explore how Antarctic spatial management, protection and governance can be improved in the context of increasing human pressure and a rapidly changing climate, and how a climate-smart marine spatial planning (MSP) approach can contribute to address identified problems. Co-organised by Catarina Frazão Santos, José Xavier, Renuka Badhe, Cassandra Brooks, Kevin Hughes and Susie Grant, the session will begin with several 5-minute presentations by invited speakers, followed by a panel discussion with the audience.
