2nd ARNET Meeting - 2026 The 2nd ARNET Meeting gathed the scientific community once more on July 6 and 7. The event toke place at the University of Algarve, Penha Campus, in Faro. Centered on the theme From Rivers to the Ocean, science for a changing territory, this gathering united the scientific community from MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, CIMA Ualg and Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology (CBMA). The meeting also includes partners from public entities, NGOs, and various stakeholders, promoting a vital exchange between scientific research, management practices, and broader society. Across this two-day event, the discussion focused on issues that are crucial to our waters, including climate-driven extremes and environmental hazards, the governance of water resources, marine and freshwater biodiversity, and how the blue and green economies can support sustainable ocean protection. The PI of PLAnT, Catarina Frazão Santos, participated in “Block 4: Green Deal, blue economy and ocean conservation” sharing insights into marine spatial planning, climate change, and ocean conservation in international waters.
